Mix and Match Fashion

I am a big fan of mixing and matching patterns and materials when it comes to DIY projects and making my greeting cards.  This attitude definitely transfers into my personal style as I also love combining funky patterns and uncommon materials together.  However, mixing patterns and fabrics together can be tricky when you’re creating an outfit so I’ve put together a few of my own favorite ways to keep people on their toes when it comes to my personal style!

1. SMOOTH CRIMINAL

Stripes and animal print is BOLD, to say the least.  While I would normally only wear one pattern or the other, this is a great way to stand out for a night out to celebrate your birthday.  Stick with a smaller sized animal print, shown in the picture and wider stripes; it’s more appealing to the eye!

2. SUGAR AND SPICE

This is one of the “safer” ways to mix and match patterns.  This is a great brunch outfit or walking around a fair or carnival.  While the print of the pants is bold, the soft colors tone it down and make it sweet and girly.  However, by pairing it with a different patterned top, such as a fitted polka dot shirt, you add an element of surprise that just works!

3. GOOD VS. EVIL

No fashion post of mine would be complete without a dash of leather-I just can’t resist.  I love the contrast of the edgy leather with the soft crochet maxi skirt.  The shape of the cropped leather top is soft, however, so it keeps the outfit cohesive.  I’d definitely rock this at an outside, nighttime rock concert.20130808-092027.jpg

4. TOMBOY GIRLY GIRL

Again, I love the idea of mixing femininity with a masculine touch.  Why not pair a cute sneaker wedge with a body-hugging dress?  This is a fun way to be casually dressed up.  I’d wear this ensemble to a date night at the movies or a weekend shopping trip!
