DIY Birthday Card

People tend to think of balloons, cupcakes and confetti when they think of a birthday card; not exactly suitable for the masculine men in your life.  Unfortunately, that balanced combination of manly man meets fun birthday card, is difficult to find.   Frankly it can be exhausting, which leads you to giving in and buying a bland, boring, usually brown (because apparently the color brown is macho) birthday card.

This week’s featured birthday card was made for my brother-in-law.   I knew I wanted to display his love for the Boston Bruins hockey team, so I worked with a gold, yellow, black and white color scheme.  I recently purchased some bronze studs for $3.49 from Michael’s, so I wanted to incorporate the word “STUD”.

You will need:

  • cutting board for straight edges
  • cardstock scrapbook paper
  • stamp ink $4.69
  • ink pad
  • thin sharpie pen
  • letter stickers $4.99
  • self-adhesive glitter dots $2-$5 depending on the brand and type
  • tape runner $3-$6 depending on the length and brand
  • bronze studs $3.49
  • folding notecard and envelope $10.99 for a pack of 40

*Note: all of these supplies can be found at Michael’s Arts & Crafts and will last for MANY cards and crafts
